MU Labor Education Program
MULE Net
The Missouri Union Leadership Educational Network
Get connected with other union activists across the state of Missouri by joining the Missouri Union Leadership Educational Network. The network provides an opportunity to access high quality educational resources and classes to help build the skills necessary to be an effective representative in the workplace and the community.
- Background
At is convention in 2005, the national AFL-CIO adopted Resolution #1, calling for the recruitment, education, and training of 100,000 stewards and other frontline representatives to help rebuild the American labor movement.
- Benefits of membership
Specific classes designed to meet the educational objectives of front-line union activists are available from the Network. Members have a direct voice in planning future educational programs and are eligible to participate in classroom-based, non-credit classes of the MU Labor Educational Program at a reduced fee. Classroom benefits are supplemented with print and web-based resources provided to the Network.
- Who benefits
Individual members and unions that support the Network gain greater access to continuing education opportunities than would otherwise be available. The Network supplements other internal educational and training programs of labor organizations and of the AFL-CIO. It is an additional resource for helping to reactivate labor's important role in our democratic society.
- The Missouri Union Leadership Educational Network
MULE Net is an important part of this strategy. To reach the goal of the AFL-CIO, 2000 Missouri activists must be recruited, trained, and mobilized. The MU Labor Educational Program has been a jam or educational resource for MIssouri workers since the 1960s. Through the combined efforts of the AFL-CIO and the MU Labor Education Program, the common goals of both can be achieved through the Missouri Union Leadership Educational Network.
- Membership
As a service of the MU Labor Education Program, network membership is open to all activists. While the network is officially supported by the AFL-CIO, membership in an affiliated union is not required.
- Cost
Annual membership in the Network is $50 per activist. The membership year runs from July 1 through June 30.
