- Public Sector Collective Bargaining in Missouri
This class will provide an overview of public sector labor relations policy in the state of Missouri. Primary attention will be focused on discussion of national trends in the regulation of labor-management relations in public service, with a comparative look at how these issues are addressed in Missouri. Among the issues covered are the scope and coverage of organizing and bargaining rights, methods for the establishment of representational rights and the determination of bargaining units, strategies for the enforcement of the duty to bargain and collective agreements, the scope of bargaining in the public sector, options for the resolution of impasses in bargaining, and related issues.

- The Economic Crisis and Working Families
The current crisis in the credit markets and the volatility of the stock market has caused increased pressure on working families. Join us for a one-day conference to consider the many economic issues confronting working people and their families in Missouri. Conference sessions will address the economic landscape in Missouri, programs and initiatives designed to address workers’ needs, and a roundtable devoted to economic sectors including manufacturing, building and construction, utilities, and public employment. The keynote speaker is Mike English, President of the Missouri Council on Economic Education.
